FAQ

A R T W O R K

Can changes be made to the wording or phrasing of the invitations?
Yes! Designs can be fully customized to suit your personal tastes and style

Can I request changes to the font?
Yes - as long as the font is available within the public domain or is already part of our extensive font library, it can be switched

Can I request changes to the colours?
Yes, for many of our designs, this option is available, unless stated.

Can I request changes to the design?
For this service, a custom order would perhaps suit you better - just contact us for a more tailored solution to your invitations

Can I request a change to the size of the product?
Yes, whichever suits you best. We advise that it is better to use the same proportions and story direction, however.

Will I see a proof?
Yes. Inclusive of the price you will receive two free complimentary proofs, whether they are text or coloor changes and does not include changes to the overall design. For printable products, the files are always sent ready to print, so if there are no alterations needed, you can simply print straight away.

How quickly will printable files be emailed to me?
Once payment is cleared and you have sent us all the information, our turnaround time is 24-48 hours. If there are any changes needed after that, you simply need to let us know and we get onto them as soon as possible for you.

Can I edit the PDF myself?
For customized templates, no. All graphics and designs are copyrighted and belong to VanillaRetro. Files are non-editable and password protected which prevents the opening and altering of the design in such programs like, Adobe Photoshop.
For some instant download products, the file is set up to allow you to edit certain fields, but again, graphics cannot be exported and most of the design is none-editable.

Where can I get my printable invites printed?
Our files are configured for easy home printing with a simple "how to" PDF provided with each purchase to guide you as your print and advice on suitable media. If you would prefer to get them printed at a local printers, our files may not be compatible with all softwares used by every printer so we cannot guarantee our PDF file will work at all print houses. Please contact us to arrange for an alternative file if you are having any problems.
Alternatively, we also offer a printing service - simply get in touch as we will provide you with a customized quotation.

Do you send out samples?
If you are keen to see a printed sample of a design, a sample can be purchased. This will not have your personal details on however, but rather the sample details as shown in our listing photos. If you choose to proceed with a printed order after you have received your sample, we will happily deduct the price of the sample from your final bill.

Can I get a refund if I change my mind?
A refund is only issued if we have not begun working on your order and you have not received the file. Due to the nature of our digital products and the time involved in each order, a refund cannot be made once the file has been emailed to you or the customization process has begun. With custom orders, payment must be made before work commences.

How do I cut my prints?
We recommend using a home guillotine for cutting your invites, which are very cheap, quick and simple to use. Alternatively, you can use a craft knife, cutting matt and steel ruler. We do not recommend the use of scissors as this can result in wonky edges.

What type of paper should I use?
All our templates are set up on US Letter (for residents of the USA, Canada, Mexico, Bolivia, Colombia, Venezuela, the Philippines, and Chile) or A4 (for the rest of the world). We recommend a card thickness of at least 220gsm (80lb) with 300gsm (120lb) yielding the best results. Please ensure your printer can use these thicknesses before beginning.

MATT PAPER: A uncoated, non-glossy paper that absorb ink very well and dries quickly. Colour is not as vibrant and is fingerprint resistant.
GLOSS PAPER: A coated, shiny paper, gives colours more vibrancy when printed. Glaring and fingerprints may be a problem.
SEMI-GLOSS PAPER: Very similar to gloss paper, prints vibrant colours but with less glare.
NATURAL (eco-friendly): This paper choice is for the environmentally conscious. The paper is certified by ECF (Elemental Chlorine-Free) and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council). It’s smooth natural texture takes ink very well.

Always print a sample to make sure you are happy with the artwork during proofing and before going ahead and printing the whole lot. Every effort has been made to represent the true colours but it may vary from screen to screen and printer to printer.

What size envelopes should I buy?
For our US and Canada customers:
For the 5″ x 7″ cards, we recommend the A-7 envelope (5 1/4″ x 7 1/4″) for a perfect fit or alternately, the A-8 envelope (5 1/2″ x 8 1/8″) which is a little bit bigger. For our 3.5″ x 5″ RSVP cards, we recommend the A1 envelope (3 5/8″ x 5 1/8″) or alternately, the A2 envelope (4 3/8″ x 5 3/4″).
5x5" envelopes can be a little tricky to come by, but we can supply these for you. Here is a link to the supply section of our online shop

For our Australia and EU customers:
For the 5″ x 7″ (127mm x 177.8mm) invite, you can purchase the C5 envelope which is 162mm x 229mm and for the RSVP 5″ x 3.5″ card (127mm x 88.9mm), a C6 envelope size 114mm x 162mm would be ideal.
Again, we can supply the 5x7 Envelopes which are a perfect fit.
